Myofascial Pain
Myofascial pain syndrome is a chronic pain condition resulting from repetitive movements of a particular muscle. It is a deep, muscle ache or muscle pain that does not resolve with rest. The hallmark sign of this condition is trigger points. The trigger point can trap or irritate nerves surrounding the injured area and cause pain in other parts of the body. Eventually, if not treated correctly, scar tissue, range of motion loss, and weakness can develop.
Stress and anxiety can cause or worsen this condition. Chronic stress activates certain muscles, causing the overuse injury that leads to myofascial pain syndrome.

What are Trigger Point Injections?
Trigger point injections (TPI) are used to treat extremely painful muscle areas. As muscles contract and relax, a trigger point acts like a knot or tight band when a muscle fails to relax. The knot or tightness can often be felt under the skin, causing involuntary twitching of the affected area.
Trigger point injections (TPI) are used to alleviate acute or chronic pain involving tissue that surrounds muscles that do not respond to other types of treatment. Many muscle groups, especially those in the lower back, neck, arms, and legs, are treated using this method. TPI also has also been effective in treating cervicalgia (Neck Pain) and migraine headaches.
